Jorge Molina began his classical guitar studies at the Universidad de Antioquia under the guidance of Roberto Fernández. He later refined his training in France at the École de Musique de Blanc-Mesnil with Philippe Pannier, earning diplomas in specialization and advanced guitar performance. His interest in historically informed performance led him to pursue the Advanced Performance-Concertist Cycle in early music (lute and Baroque guitar) at the Conservatoire Régional de Paris. He completed his academic journey with a Doctorate in Music and Musicology from the University of Sorbonne.
As a performer, he has built a prolific career in early music and historically informed interpretation. He has performed as a concert guitarist with La Corte ensemble in Medellín and the Molina-Kahn Guitar Duo in Paris. Additionally, he has collaborated with renowned groups, including a duo with flutist Katsura Takabatake (traverso and shakuhachi), as well as the ensembles T’Actus (Tjad Cie musical theater company), Arte Pomposa, Abya Yala, Spicata, and Cumbees, the latter in collaboration with percussionist Mauricio D’León. Among his most notable performances are Les 24 Violons du Roi at the Royal Chapel of Versailles, Buxtehude’s The Last Judgment with the Paris Youth Choir, and Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme by Molière in Toulouse.
As an educator, he has served as a guitar professor at the Conservatoire de Dreux and the École de Musique Carillon in France. In Colombia, he worked as academic coordinator at the Escuela Sinfónica de Antioquia and is currently a professor of guitar at the Universidad de Antioquia. His commitment to education and the dissemination of early music actively connects him with the Academia de Música Antigua de Medellín, where he contributes to its educational and artistic mission.
