Guillermo Salas holds a Doctorate in Historical Performance from Case Western Reserve University, studying under Julie Andrijeski. He combines a distinguished career as a performer, conductor, and researcher. He recently made his conducting debut with the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra and maintains an active schedule as a violinist in North America, collaborating with ensembles such as Atlanta Baroque, Austin Baroque, Lyra Baroque, Apollo's Fire, and The Newberry Consort.
As a chamber musician, his versatility spans Renaissance music with The Early Interval, Baroque repertoire with CityMusic Cleveland On Period Instruments, and Romantic-era music with The Witt’s Folly, an ensemble he founded. He has worked with leading figures in early music, including Barthold Kuijken, Jaap ten Linden, and Paolo Pandolfo. His research focuses on 18th-century Spanish and Mexican music, and he has presented at major universities in the United States. He is also the author of a monograph on the violin in Spain, published by Indiana University Press. As an educator, he has led workshops and masterclasses across Latin America, promoting historical performance and advocating for inclusivity through his role on the Early Music America committee.
