The II Latin American Conference of Baroque Violin-Making will take place in August 2026 and will be dedicated monographically to the construction of Baroque bows for violin, viola, and violoncello—a crucial field for historically informed performance that remains largely underexplored in the Latin American context. This second edition consolidates the Congress as a specialized meeting space where technical knowledge, musical practice, and historical reflection engage in direct dialogue.
The principal instructor will be Pieter Affourtit, a Dutch musician and researcher with extensive practical experience in the use of Baroque bows and a deep understanding of performers’ real needs. His profile—combining the perspective of a performer with the rigor of craftsmanship—will allow the construction of the bow to be approached not merely as a technical object, but as a sensitive extension of Baroque musical discourse.
This edition will bring together eight bow makers from Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico, selected for their experience and potential, creating a high-level space for technical and cultural exchange.
